NRC Health named two University of Nebraska–Lincoln College of Business students Rising Star Scholars who set their minds on a career in sales or marketing. They included junior Amber Kohmetscher and senior Trevor Willenborg who received $2,000 to use toward their tuition and fees during the 2018 spring semester.

Kohmetscher, a junior marketing major from Blue Hill, Nebraska, participates in the Center for Sales Excellence and earns her certificate of professional selling this December. She serves as the marketing chair for the Undergraduate Women in Business student organization. She is also a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success. Outside of the university, Kohmetscher interns at Waddell and Reed.

“Being recognized for my achievements and work thus far, as well as my future potential, is very gratifying. I have been looking forward to applying for this scholarship since my freshman year in the sales center. I am paying my own way through college and this scholarship helps me achieve my goal of earning a degree in business administration,” she said.

In the future, Kohmetscher hopes to move back to her hometown to be a financial advisor for Waddell and Reed.

Willenborg, an international business and marketing major from Elkhorn, Nebraska, is pursuing an advanced certificate of professional selling through the Center for Sales Excellence. He assists the center by helping coordinate and sell sponsorships for its annual golf tournament. Willenborg also assists with Dance Marathon, a student organization which raises money each year for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. He also held internships at Union Pacific and Buildertrend.

“It means a lot to be chosen as a Rising Star. Any time companies can invest into the future talent pool of students, that’s absolutely amazing. Personally, receiving the scholarship solidifies what I’ve tried to do over the last couple of years. I didn’t just want to be content with my education I wanted to make sure I applied what I learn to excel in business. Getting the scholarship shows I have put in the work in my college career,” he said.

After graduation, Willenborg hopes to find a sales career in either the technology or health care field.

Both scholarship winners attended a dinner hosted by NRC Health on December 5. Kohmetscher and Willenborg’s names have been added to the Rising Star Scholarship plaque displayed in the Center for Sales Excellence.
