Employers can advance their hiring of University of Nebraska-Lincoln talent at the seventh annual College of Business Employer Partners Day on Friday, May 18, 8:30 a.m.-2 p.m. at Howard L. Hawks Hall. Presented by the Business Career Center, the event offers employers opportunities to learn tools to increase their presence on campus and benchmark with other hiring organizations. Attendees should register by Friday, May 11 at: http://business.unl.edu/employerpartners. Cost is $15 and includes breakfast, lunch, breakout sessions and a parking voucher.

Dr. Chris Timm, associate director of employer experience and outreach, said, “Employer Partners Day provides a great professional development opportunity for our employers to maximize their recruiting efforts. It’s also a way for them to bridge new connections with the College of Business faculty and staff.”

Keynote speaker Matt Waite will present “The Future of Media is Weirder than You Think It Is.” A professor of practice in journalism at Nebraska, he founded the university’s Drone Journalism Lab and co-founded Hot Type Consulting LLC, a web development firm. Previously, he worked as a programmer and journalist for the St. Petersburg Times, where he developed the Pulitzer Prize-winning Politifact, a website that fact checks what politicians say.

Attendees will hear from Dr. Kathy Farrell, James Jr. and Susan Stuart Endowed Dean of the College of Business and Dr. Rachel Larson, director of the Business Career Center. Additionally, they can attend breakout sessions on topics such as legal issues in internships, advanced LinkedIn training, developing internships and community building.

The 2018 College of Business Employer of the Year and Faculty/Staff Partner of the Year awards will also be presented. Employers can choose to conclude the day with a tour of the new 240,000-square-foot building immediately after the awards presentation.
