A total of 249 College of Business students will receive their degrees to officially become Husker alumni during commencement exercises Friday and Saturday, Dec. 20-21, at Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln. University of Nebraska–Lincoln Chancellor Rodney D. Bennett will preside over the commencement ceremony and award more than 1,100 doctoral, master's and bachelor's degrees from across the university.
“I am thrilled to congratulate every graduate and celebrate what the class of 2024 accomplished during their time with the College of Business. Our December graduates come from 28 states and 11 countries. As alumni, we know they will continue to drive discovery, create opportunity and lead the future of business wherever they go next — in Nebraska or around the world,” said Kathy Farrell, James Jr. and Susan Stuart Endowed Dean and professor of finance.
Among those receiving their bachelor's degrees is Aleesha Bergman, management major from Neligh, Nebraska. After graduation, she plans to launch her full-time career at Via Van Bloom Tour and Travel in Lincoln as a travel coordinator and social media manager.
"To me, graduating from Nebraska means leaving college with experiences I wouldn’t have found anywhere else. I’m incredibly proud to graduate from one of the top business colleges in the country and to be a Husker, sharing in the unforgettable activities that come with it. The University of Nebraska–Lincoln is more than a college — it’s an experience that will stay with me forever," she said.
Daniel Basile, originally from Nashville, Tennessee, will receive his Master of Science in Supply Chain Management on Friday. He plans to continue his professional journey at consumer health company Haleon in Lincoln, Nebraska. Basile shared the value he found during his Husker journey as an online graduate student.
"As a former U.S. Army officer and transient mover, graduating from Nebraska makes me feel closer to my new home and the fantastic Nebraskan community," he said. "The phenomenal professors provided relevant knowledge that facilitated my career. I especially enjoyed the online simulations, which helped me with real-world scenarios and decision-making. I thank them for the valuable feedback and expert learning environment."
Recent graduates can also take advantage of the Nebraska Graduate Advantage Program (GAP), which aims to help remove possible financial barriers to those seeking to enhance their skills and employability. The program benefits graduates within the University of Nebraska system.
"We launched the Nebraska Graduate Advantage Program (GAP) to save 15% in graduate tuition in our online Master of Science in Business Analytics and Supply Chain Management programs. The special savings are available to those who earned their bachelor's degree from UNK, UNL and UNO in the last five years with a GPA of 3.2 or higher," said Farrell. "This opportunity helps meet the workforce needs in Nebraska and nationwide for workers with these in-demand, relevant technical skills."
The ceremony will be available to watch online at the Commencement website. For more information about the ceremony and arena or to watch it live, visit: https://commencement.unl.edu.
