Donde's Point: October 2011

CBA is growing and changing in all sorts of exciting ways. Our enrollments are up this fall and we hope to continue that kind of growth. The Chancellor has established some aggressive growth goals for the campus and I hope CBA leads the way in the next few years.

Five new faculty joined us this fall, including Dr. Theresa Welbourne, director of the Center for Entrepreneurship. She is bringing enormous leadership and energy to our college’s efforts around entrepreneurship and innovation.

Perhaps the most exciting development is that we are currently recruiting for 13 faculty positions in CBA. We have open positions in every department and our current faculty members are actively involved in attracting new faculty members to UNL.

We have hired two new career coaches who join us this month and for the first time ever, students will be able to receive career services inside CBA. This will escalate our efforts to help students find internships and jobs upon graduation.

CBA will be offering a brand new minor in business that will be open to any student at UNL. With six newly developed courses, created especially for non-business majors, this will be a minor that every student at UNL ought to take.

We have a strategic plan for helping us accelerate our trajectory on our path to national distinction. Thanks to everyone who worked hard last year to develop that plan. We now have more than 150 alumni and business partners who participate in one of the college’s ten advisory boards. This kind of support is essential as we try to move the college to the next level.  I am looking forward to seeing most of them this Friday at our second annual CBA Partnership Summit.

Stay tuned. Lots of good things are happening.
