Nebraska Tax Institute to Educate Professionals on Tax Law
The Nebraska Tax Institute hosts events across the state for convenient access to all Nebraska tax professionals.
Starting in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, and continuing through six cities across the state, the 64th annual Nebraska Federal and State Income Tax Institute provides the latest, need-to-know information for tax professionals and advisors. Partnering with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and Nebraska Department of Revenue, the institute offers training on new laws and regulations in the tax industry at each two-day program.

“The 2018 tax year is going to see many changes and steps taken that will have an impact on 2018 and future returns. This may be the most important year for federal tax education in your career,” said Virginia Uzendoski, senior assistant director of programs and operations of the Nebraska Tax Institute at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln College of Business.

Attended by more than 1,200 tax professionals, the institute covers a vast amount of information. This year includes extensive changes due to the Tax Cut and Jobs Act, such as critical updates on tax legislations, IRS changes and court rulings. The program also delivers an in-depth coverage of individual, business, agriculture, retirement and investment issues. All attendees receive comprehensive resource materials and on-site ethics training.

“We have succeeded for 64 years because we provide Nebraska tax professional the latest in-depth and up-to-date training on new tax law and regulations,” said Uzendoski. “The curriculum is updated and revised annually.”

Dates and locations for the seven-city tax institute, which run from 7 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. daily, include:

  • November 8-9: North Platte, Nebraska
  • November 12-13: Kearney, Nebraska
  • November 15-16: Grand Island, Nebraska
  • November 26-27: Norfolk, Nebraska
  • December 10-11: Lincoln, Nebraska
  • December 17-18: Omaha, Nebraska
The institute fulfills the continuing education requirements for Certified Public Accountants (CPA), IRS Enrolled Agents (EA), PTIN holders and AFSP, Certified Financial Planners (CFP), attorneys, tax return preparers, Nebraska Department of Insurance and other licensing agencies. The institute is IRS Continuing Education Provider NQJG1 and is also an accredited continuing education provider with the Nebraska Supreme Court MCLE Commission.
