The MBA@Nebraska program solidified itself as a top choice among professionals looking to advance their careers by jumping four spots in the U.S News & World Report 2020 Best Online MBA rankings. The University of Nebraska–Lincoln ranked No. 22 overall, No. 18 among public institutions and No. 16 for veterans.

Dr. Kathy Farrell, James Jr. and Susan Stuart Endowed Dean of the College of Business, along with advisory boards at the college, help shape the MBA curriculum to maximize its impact on the business world. Farrell credits Nebraska Business faculty with inspiring students in the online environment.

“Rising again in the U.S. News & World Report ranking exemplifies the investment we continue to make in our MBA@Nebraska program. Our online MBA program features a purposeful curriculum with relevant, interactive classes taught by Big Ten faculty who prepare our students to lead the future of business,” said Farrell.

U.S. News analyzed 335 programs in its 2020 rankings. The ranking formula weighted engagement (30 percent), expert opinion (25 percent), faculty credentials and training (15 percent), student excellence (15 percent) and student services and technologies (15 percent). Rankings derived from data schools reported to U.S. News in statistical surveys and from data collected via peer reputation surveys. The veterans ranking measures programs’ affordability, accessibility, reputation and the financial benefits available specifically to people with military experience.

Dr. Jake Messersmith, executive director of business graduate programs and associate professor of management, also touted the high quality of faculty in the program and the commitment from the College of Business to make the program a success. He believes the students and their employers benefit from the MBA@Nebraska experience.

“The College of Business believes in the value of high-quality online graduate management education,” said Messersmith. “Our dedicated faculty and incredible staff have made a commitment to excellence in this area, and it is wonderful to see the MBA@Nebraska achieve such a lofty ranking in the latest U.S. News & World Report online MBA rankings. With more than 330 schools participating in the ranking this year, it is a tremendous honor to be ranked No. 22 overall and No. 16 for veterans. We hope to build on this success to continue to equip our students to advance in their careers.”

According to U.S. News, master’s programs in business administration remain the most popular graduate business degree program. To be eligible for the rankings, programs must deliver all required coursework via distance education courses that incorporate internet-based learning technologies.
