The University of Nebraska–Lincoln will unite Huskers around the world for Glow Big Red — 24 Hours of Husker Giving — from 12 p.m. CST Feb. 11 to 12 p.m. CST Feb. 12. The annual giving day invites alumni, friends and supporters to invest in scholarships, hands-on learning and innovative programs that fuel student success across campus, including the College of Business.
“This year’s Glow Big Red comes at a truly meaningful moment for the College of Business,” said Kathy Farrell, James Jr. and Susan Stuart Endowed Dean and professor of finance. “We launched a new, innovative core curriculum for our largest freshman class ever that is centered on hands-on learning, corporate partnerships and peer-to-peer mentoring, and Glow Big Red gives our community the opportunity to directly support that momentum and the students it serves.”
Business students, faculty, staff and alumni are invited to wear red and stop by the college's Glow Big Red kickoff event between 12-1 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 11 in the Henrickson Family Atrium. Attendees can enjoy hot chocolate, coffee and popcorn, and giving stations will be available for those who want to participate in Glow Big Red.
College of Business supporters can choose from 20 funds to give to during the event. Each impacts students, whether through scholarships, hands-on learning experiences or program development. Gifts totaling $75 or more receive a Huskers tote bag created exclusively for Glow Big Red 2026.
“Early gifts help set the pace for a successful Glow Big Red,” said Farrell. “Many College of Business funds feature matching gifts or additional donations that are unlocked based on the number of gifts received.”
This year’s goal is 450 donors during Glow Big Red, which started in 2019 in recognition of the university's 150th anniversary. Last year, the Nebraska Business community raised over $115,000 from 445 gifts.
Husker Nation can uplift students and make a meaningful impact in their lives in three ways:
- GIVE: Make a gift of $5 or more to your favorite cause during the 24-hour period to help reach the goal of 5,000 gifts. Donors who make a gift of at least $75 will receive a Husker tote bag. The giving day website is open to receive gifts anytime before 12 p.m. CST Feb. 12.
- SHARE: Spread the word on social media using the hashtag #GlowBigRed.
- GLOW: Show others how your heart glows big for UNL by lighting up your room, home or business.
