  • Have a 2.5+ GPA
  • Submit a resume, current transcript and answers to application questions

Required Materials to Prepare

Your completed application includes three components:

  1. Written responses (approximately 500 words) to the following questions:
    • Experience in Sports: Describe your most significant sports-related experience to date. What was your specific role, what did you actually do, and what did that experience reveal to you about how sports operates as a business or an organization?
      • For the purposes of this application, experience in sports is defined broadly. It may include playing or coaching at any level, working or volunteering for a sports organization, managing a team's social media, selling sponsorships, working in a sports facility, covering sports as a journalist, or any other role in which you were connected to a sports environment in a meaningful way.
    • Academic Achievement: Describe a course — at this university or elsewhere — in which you feel your performance best reflects your academic potential. What did you do in that course to achieve that result, and what did it teach you about how you learn?
    • Resilience & Grit: Describe a moment in your life — in any context — that tested your resilience or required genuine grit to push through. This might be a specific setback or failure, an ongoing pursuit that has been difficult, or both. What happened, how did you respond, and what has that experience taught you about yourself? Be as specific as possible.
      • Resilience is the ability to recover from setbacks and adapt to difficult circumstances. Grit is the sustained passion and perseverance to pursue long-term goals even when progress is slow or obstacles feel insurmountable. Both qualities are distinct from talent — they describe what you do when things are hard.
    • Goals: Why do you want to pursue the Sports Management & Business Minor, and where do you see yourself a few years beyond graduation? Explain the type of role or organization (inside or outside of sports) that you want to engage with, and explain how this minor connects to that path.
  2. Your current resume in PDF format. Use the following name convention: your full name, underscore and your NUID" (e.g., JaneDoe_12345678).
  3. Your unofficial transcript with spring semester grades in PDF format. Use the following name convention: your full name, underscore, your NUID number, underscore and the word "Transcript" (e.g., JaneDoe_12345678_Transcript).
