Career Services at CBA hosted a graduation celebration April 22 for 10 University of Nebraska–Lincoln College of Business Administration students who completed the Career Readiness Certificate (CRC) program. The program is a 10-week, intensive career preparation program designed to assist international sophomore and junior business students in finding internships or full-time employment in the United States as well as connect students to applicable campus and community resources.
“The CRC program helps international students in the College of Business Administration enhance their professional skills and knowledge in order to compete for internships and jobs in the United States,” said Dr. Rachel Larson, director of Career Services at CBA. “We are very proud of the CRC program graduates as they have taken intentional steps to make their career and professional development a priority while they are business students at UNL.”
Students attended group career development workshops, one-on-one career coaching and informal events with an American conversation partner. The program also provided insight on immigration rules and regulations and connected students with successful alumni and other students on campus.
“I loved watching the students network with each other and with our guest speakers,” said Jayde McWilliams, graduate assistant in Career Services at CBA. “They all learned so much and, specifically learned how to make a good first impression. The students were able to start building more connections on campus while learning about the resources they can take advantage of.”
The graduating cohort included: Erdem Akalin, senior finance major from Bursa, Turkey; Yaow Hui Chong, junior actuarial science major from Puchong, Malaysia; Shang Gao, junior business administration major from Nantong, China; Yaxian Huang, graduate accounting student from Nanchong City, China; Haeun Lee, junior economics and finance major from Seoul, South Korea; Said-Nuriddin (Nurik) Makhmudzoda, sophomore finance major from Khujand, Tajikistan; Ruey Jenq Ong, sophomore actuarial science major from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; Rucao Wang, sophomore marketing major from Suzhou, China; Yaowei Zeng, sophomore management major from Dongguan, China; and Xu (Tamayo) Zhou, sophomore actuarial science major from Tianjin City, China.
