Nebraska Tax Institute Offers In-Person, Online and Self-Study Seminars
Leading tax expert Guido van der Hoeven returns to present at the 69th Annual Federal and State Income Tax Institute, which offers six in-person and three livestream options to attend the seminars for tax professionals’ continuing education.

The University of Nebraska–Lincoln offers the 69th Annual Federal and State Income Tax Institute this November and December. The seminars enable tax professionals, advisors and attorneys to stay up-to-date with the latest rulings, regulations and developments in the tax field.

Professionals can choose between six seminars across the state, three online sessions and a self-study option. Register at https://taxinstitute.unl.edu. Early registration rates end Friday, Oct. 20.

"Offering in-person and online access to high-quality professional development speaks to our university’s mission as the state’s flagship land grant institution. Professionals can earn their continuing education credits in a format that best meets their needs,” said Emre Unlu, Associate Dean of Faculty and Research, Paul C. Burmeister College Professor of Investments and professor of finance.

Nationally renowned presenters guide attendees through important updates on tax legislation. Guido van der Hoeven, chief editor of the Land Grant Agriculture Book, and J’Nan L. Ensz, CPA and QuickBooks Pro advisor, return to lead this year's seminars.

In-Person Two-Day Seminars

Check-in for in-person seminars begins at 7:30 a.m., and the programs continue daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. local time.

Online and Self-Study Options

The webinar option livestreams tax seminars over Zoom on Nov. 16-17, Nov. 27-28 and Dec. 4-5. Attendees participate in real-time from anywhere with a stable, high-speed internet connection. Employers can host a group seminar viewing when they name an onsite proctor who verifies attendance. Online participants receive books and materials through the mail.

A self-study package with videos, presentation slides, books and materials is also available. This option does not earn continuing education credits.

"All participants of the in-person, online or self-study options are exclusively invited to update seminars with additional continuing education credit opportunities. Our first one will be a 2024 Update Webinar on Jan. 23," Unlu said.

The Nebraska Tax Institute designs its programs to meet several continuing education requirements. The seminars fulfill requirements for certified public accountants, IRS enrolled agents, preparer tax-identification number holders, Annual Filing Season Program preparers, tax return preparers, certified financial planners, attorneys, Nebraska Department of Insurance agents and other licensing agents. The institute is an accredited continuing education provider with the IRS (Provider #NQ6J1) and the Nebraska Supreme Court Mandatory Continuing Legal Education Commission. The seminars are hosted in partnership with the Internal Revenue Service and the Nebraska Department of Revenue.

Nebraska's Tax Institute offers year-round professional development. The Nebraska Agricultural Tax and Management Symposium takes place Oct. 17 in York, Nebraska, and is offered with an online option. The symposium explores tax changes affecting farms and ranches. The annual 1040 Workshop, a one-day in-person or online seminar reviewing changes on the important IRS form, will be held on Jan. 11, at the College of Business in Lincoln.
