In a celebration of exceptional academic success, the University of Nebraska–Lincoln College of Business recognized 97 students at the annual College of Business Student Awards Reception on September 25 at Howard L. Hawks Hall. Awards received by students at the top of their respective classes included the Clifford M. Hicks Scholar, Delta Sigma Pi Scholarship Key, LeRossignol Scholar Award and William Gold Scholar Award.

“College of Business students continue to stand out for their academic achievement as well as involvement on campus and public service,” said Jennifer Mostek, interim director of Business Advising and Student Engagement. “We are excited to celebrate with these students on a year of success as they prepare to lead the future of business.”

For academic success achieved in their freshman year, seven students earned the William Gold Scholar Award. Named for the founder of Gold and Company, the award recognizes the top members of the freshman class. The recipients, from a class of more than 900 students, all earned a cumulative grade-point average of 4.0.

Sixteen students who accomplished top academic standing following the completion of their sophomore year received the Clifford M. Hicks Scholar. Professor Hicks dedicated 43 years of service to the College of Business Administration, including 18 years as the chair of the Department of Business Organization and Management.

Fifty-nine students from a class of more than 1,100 earned the LeRossignol Scholar Award. Established to honor James E. LeRossignol, the college’s first dean who served from 1913 to 1941, the award celebrates students with the top academic accomplishments through their junior year.

Finally, 15 recent College of Business graduates received the Delta Sigma Pi Scholarship Key for their academic performance as seniors. This award celebrates those who completed their academic career with a cumulative grade-point average of 4.0.

“It is an honor to recognize our students with these awards. It is a testament to both their hard work and their dedication to academic excellence,” said Dr. Kathy Farrell, James Jr. and Susan Stuart Endowed Dean of the College of Business.
