SCM focuses on the core areas of business planning, sourcing and procurement, manufacturing, transportation and distribution, sales and customer service.
Set Yourself Up To Succeed
- Take elective courses in analytics, statistics and computer systems.
- Some organizations do not have a logistics department, so look for positions in operations, manufacturing, purchasing or marketing.
- Gain relevant experience through internships.
- Get involved in student organizations such as the Supply Chain Club and take on a leadership role (executive board or committee).
- Stay ahead of the field by following the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals.
- Develop your network of personal/ professional contacts.
- Complete multiple informational interviews.
