Crabtree's Corner - February 2016

What a busy year it has been in the School of Accountancy. The new CBA building is being built, we have implemented new programs and events, we hired three new faculty members and we are now searching for more faculty to join our team in the fall. Additionally, we are adjusting our curriculum to enhance student’s opportunities and give them a competitive edge in the job market. I am excited to be the director and I look forward to what the future will bring.

The three tenure track faculty that joined the school include:

· Keith Czerney who earned his Ph.D. from the University of Illinois and worked as an auditor with KPMG.
· Joel Owens received his Ph.D. from the University of South Carolina and has experience as an auditor with Elliot Davis.
· Biyu Wu received her Ph.D. from the University of Connecticut and worked as an auditor for PwC.

This year we sent you a survey inviting all our alumni to give us feedback on your experience in the School of Accountancy and how you would like us to reach out to you. I was pleased to receive quality feedback from you and am happy to report that we have implemented your suggestions. We will be sending newsletters and have added to our internship program for accounting students. If you would like to learn more about those changes, please see the articles in the newsletter.

The growth that has occurred within the School of Accountancy this year represents how important your support is to us. With your assistance, we are able to have expert faculty, provide scholarships, sustain our unique programs, and host events which help our students prepare for their future careers in accounting. We are making strides forward, but we still have work to do and we need your continued support to do it.

It is such an exciting time to be a part of the School of Accountancy and I would like to personally thank each of you for your help in making it such a success.

Sincerely,
