APPLY YOUR STRENGTHS IN COLLEGE AND BEYOND

After identifying your strengths through the CliftonStrengths® Assessment, you will learn how to leverage your strengths for specific outcomes. As a first-year business student, you will experience a strengths-based education that will help you discover and develop your natural talents.

Investing in Strengths (BSAD 111) Course

Investing In Strengths (BSAD 111) is designed to help you to discover, develop and apply your strengths to create and implement an individualized success plan. This plan will work to boost your self-awareness and encourage personal well-being, engagement, academic success and major and career confidence.

Course Components

One-on-One Coaching

You will participate in two individualized coaching sessions with a Certified Student Strengths Coach who will invest in you as you transition into university life and future career goals.

Recitations

You will meet weekly with a team of 10 students to identify strategies to enhance your individual strengths and create a meaningful college experience.

Lecture

You will be exposed to strengths-based psychology to understand, develop and apply your strengths to maximize your experience in college and after graduation.


Becoming a Student Strengths Coach

Coaches are recruited and selected in the fall of each year. If selected, students enroll in a training course (MNGT 451) the following spring to gain the tools to coach BSAD 111 students in the following fall semester.

Introduction to the Professional Enhancement Program

The Investing in Strengths (BSAD 111) course is a part of the college’s Professional Enhancement Program (PrEP). Unique to Nebraska Business, the four, one-credit-hour courses in the PrEP focus on your career and professional development so you can not only successfully find an internship or full-time job, but also succeed in your career and personal life after college.
