WE DON’T REST ON OUR STRENGTHS

We stretch our strengths together through personal, professional and leadership development using the application of strengths-based sciences. We help you identify and maximize your talents to help Nebraska, the nation and the world develop economic growth and prosperity. The institute proudly serves as a national model for other organizations to learn to recognize individual potential and develop leaders who build and strengthen businesses and create more great jobs and lives.

Become Your Best By Using Your CliftonStrengths

On the campus where strengths-based psychology first started, you’ll see the power of understanding and using your top five CliftonStrengths. As a student, you’ll take the CliftonStrengths assessment in the Investing in Strengths (BSAD 111) course and receive one-on-one coaching to achieve individualized academic, personal and professional success.

Don Clifton

Don Clifton’s Legacy

A popular professor of education psychology and researcher examining strengths at Nebraska, Dr. Donald O. Clifton is recognized as the Father of Strengths-Based Psychology and Grandfather of Positive Psychology. He was chairman of Selection Research Inc. and later chairman of Gallup. His research led to the CliftonStrengths® assessment.

His passion was centered around the question, “What will happen when we think about what is right with people rather than fixating on what is wrong with them?”

Mark Pogue’s Service

Founding Executive Director Mark Pogue provided a guiding vision that launched the Clifton Strengths Institute at Nebraska Business. He spearheaded the integration of CliftonStrengths® at the college to maximize the talent in every business student.
