The center hosts a number of competitions and events that meet you where you are in your entrepreneurial journey. From sharpening innovation skills in a collaborative environment to competing for prize money to start your business, you’ll further develop your entrepreneurial toolkit and turn your ideas into viable business ventures.

Innovation Challenge

Take part in a weekend full of collaboration and creativity with a chance to win prizes. Open to all UNL students, the Innovation Challenge gives students a weekend to create a solution to a creative task with the top three teams earning rewards.

3-2-1 Quick Pitch

3 minutes 2 pitch 1 idea. The annual event gives students a platform to present their business ideas in a three-minute pitch before a panel of entrepreneurial-minded experts from across Nebraska. The top three pitches from each room receive cash prizes.

48-Hour Challenge

Present an idea, form a team and start a company at this 48-hour event. The 48-Hour Challenge brings together budding entrepreneurs and serves as a space where you can find co-founders, mentors and momentum for your idea.

New Venture Competition

Create a business model and sustainability-growth-expansion plan for your idea and pitch your complete business plan to judges from the Lincoln and Omaha business community. Along with your pitch, field questions on current traction, monetization strategies, risky assumptions, and more for a chance to win one of two $25,000 grand prizes and other cash prizes.

Join us for COVID-19 Industry Outlook on Thursday, June 18, 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. The global spread of the novel coronavirus has created immense challenges for Nebraskan small business owners. Join Nebraska Development Center Director Craig Boesch and Nebraska Center for Entrepreneurship Assistant Director Kyle Gibson as they discuss the relatively positive outlook Nebraska businesses face compared to those in the rest of the country. They will also highlight some opportunities Nebraska businesses might take advantage of as the world adapts to the coronavirus. Join us for Navigating Change for Small Businesses on Thursday, June 25, 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. as we will discuss the change process and how it drastically affects people. The human element in change management receives the least amount of attention. It is imperative to know and understand the cognitive process we go through during change. Participants will leave this training with an understanding of change management, thus empowering them to better handle the rapid changes occurring in our environment today.
