Momentum is building at the College of Business as we achieve new milestones and strengthen our impact. With support from alumni and business partners, our students are excelling in coursework and competitions while our faculty continue to inform business decisions through research that shape the future of business.
Our commitment to excellence is reflected in national rankings. Our online Master of Business Administration (MBA) program ranked No. 24 among public institutions and moved up two spots to No. 22 for veterans in the latest U.S. News & World Report rankings. Our three online Master of Science programs in Business Analytics, Finance and Supply Chain Management ranked No. 27 among public institutions. These rankings highlight our dedication to offering high-quality, affordable MBA and M.S. programs that meet the needs of our students and employers and prepare students for success.
Our faculty’s impactful research also garnered recognition. The College of Business ranked sixth among the 18 Big Ten business schools in the latest Financial Times research rankings for research productivity. This recognition highlights the college's reputation for impactful, relevant and rigorous research that not only elevates the college but also informs the business world and enriches our students’ educational experiences. This accomplishment reflects the work of our highly productive faculty and our dedication to advancing business education through it.
Our students also continue to distinguish themselves on the national stage. For the third consecutive year, Huskers won first place in the national Specialty Tool and Fastener Distributor Association (STAFDA) business competition. The team included supply chain management majors Dylan Kluthe, Hannah Pham and Jia Xien Tee. We also had Huskers on the top four teams, competing alongside top students from institutions across the country. Their victory exemplifies the excellence, teamwork and innovative thinking cultivated at Nebraska Business.
Beyond these achievements, our college continues to offer exceptional opportunities for learning and collaboration. These three are featured in this newsletter:
- Exploring Emerging Technologies: Join us for the Emerging Tech Conference on Friday, March 7, where experts including Noelle Russell will discuss the latest advancements shaping business, engineering and society. Register for the Emerging Tech Conference now.
- Faculty Research with Real-World Impact: Todd Thornock, Raymond C. Dein Professor of Accountancy, shares three essential tips for aligning manager and employee goals during performance reviews.
- Hands-On Learning with Industry Leaders: Supply chain management majors gain hands-on experience through the Strategic Supply Chain Management capstone course (SCMA 474). This fall, students partnered with alumni-led companies — Runza Restaurants® and Scooter’s Coffee®. You can also sign up to share your knowledge in a new course called Introduction to Business starting next fall. You can serve as a volunteer "business coach," helping first-year students gain hands-on experience in teamwork, communication and analysis in their very first college business class.
As we look ahead, I invite you to participate in Glow Big Red—24 Hours of Husker Giving, Feb. 12-13. The giving site is now live, allowing Huskers around the world to unite in support of our college. Every gift, no matter the size, makes a difference. Let’s reach our university goal of 5,500 gifts and show our Husker pride by sharing why we love Nebraska Business using the hashtag #GlowBigRed.
Thank you for being part of our vibrant and thriving community. Your passion and support continue to fuel our success.
Go Big Red!
