Kathy’s Point: Celebrating Progress, Purpose and Possibility
Dean Kathy Farrell noted a year of progress driven by the people in the Nebraska Business community.

As another academic year comes to a close, we pause to reflect on the incredible work happening within the College of Business and the broader Nebraska Business community. From students, faculty and staff to alumni and global partners, it’s the people who turn vision into action and purpose into progress.

Our faculty continue to lead meaningful conversations in the business world. Samuel Melessa, associate professor of accountancy, examined how companies feel trapped by the pressure of quarterly earnings forecasts. His research offers important insights into decision-making and long-term strategy in corporate environments, reinforcing the college’s role as a source of thought leadership. His research was also cited in a recent article in the Financial Times.

This spring, our students and alumni reminded us that leadership isn’t just taught; it’s lived every day in bold and meaningful ways. Their stories, featured in this newsletter, offer powerful examples of growth and impact.

What unites these stories isn’t just their impact, it’s the people behind them. People who choose to lead, serve, grow and give back. They carry what they learned at Nebraska Business into boardrooms, classrooms and communities around the world.

That’s what makes this place special. That’s how we’re building business leaders like only Nebraska can.

Go Big Red!
