New and Returning Nebraska Business Community Welcomed
Experience Community at Back to School Bash
Attendees can enjoy different activities to celebrate the new school year at the Back to School Bash.
The University of Nebraska–Lincoln College of Business kicks off the 2019-20 school year at the seventh annual Back to School Bash Friday, August 23, 2-4 p.m. Hosted at Howard L. Hawks Hall, new and returning students, parents, alumni, business partners, faculty and staff are welcome to attend the event sponsored by Sandhills Global. Attendees at the event also will celebrate the 150-year legacy of the university. You can RSVP at https://business.unl.edu/bash.

“We hold the Back to School Bash each year to both celebrate our Nebraska Business community and welcome new students to Hawks Hall. It’s an opportunity for students and parents to discover student services offered throughout the college,” said Laura Niles, external relations director for the college.

Attendees can enjoy the Nifty 150 University of Nebraska–Lincoln Dairy Store ice cream flavor, snacks and a chance to win Nebraska Business prizes and giveaways – while supplies last. They can listen to live music while playing carnival-style games, or sign up to win lunch with Dr. Kathy Farrell, James Jr. and Susan Stuart Dean of the College of Business. People can also tour the state-of-the-art Howard L. Hawks Hall.

“All of us at the College of Business want everyone to feel welcome and experience Hawks Hall as a home away from home. However, we also want them to show pride for where they came from, so we have large maps in the atrium so all students, alumni and friends can mark their hometown, state or country. This is an event where you can meet and connect with faculty, staff, alumni and business partners – and know that you have friends to help you in the Nebraska Business community,” said Sheri Irwin-Gish, executive director of Communications, Marketing and External Relations.

Students can learn more about the resources available at the college and network with other business students, faculty and staff. Connections made at a previous Back to School Bash helped Angelica Morrow, ’18, launch her career.

“It all started when I went to the Back to School Bash my first year of college, where I entered a raffle to win lunch with the dean and won! Through all my involvements in the college, I was featured in Nebraska Business magazine and was offered a job before I even graduated. Now I’ve started a great career, and it’s all because I made that decision to go to the Back to School Bash my freshman year. Don’t wait to make connections. There are so many opportunities at Nebraska Business, you just have to take advantage of them,” she said.
