Undergraduate Business Students Recognized at CBA Honors Ceremony

Nearly 100 University of Nebraska–Lincoln College of Business Administration students were honored at the 2014 CBA Honors Ceremony held on Sunday, April 13. Forty-five students received CBA awards for academic achievement including the William Gold Scholarship Keys, the Clifford Hicks Honor Keys, the LeRossignol Scholar Awards and the Delta Sigma Pi Scholarship Keys.

The William Gold Scholarship Keys were first awarded in 1925 by Mr. William Gold, founder of Gold & Co. These keys are awarded to outstanding students having the highest academic standing throughout their freshman year. This year 12 students received this honor.

The Clifford Hicks Honor Keys are named for Professor Clifford M. Hicks, who served on the College of Business Administration faculty for 43 years and was chairman of the Department of Business Organization and Management from 1950 until his retirement in 1968. The Hicks Keys have been awarded since 1971 to outstanding students having the highest academic standing throughout their sophomore year. Fifteen sophomores received this honor.

The LeRossignol Scholar Awards honor James E. LeRossignol, the first dean of the College of Business Administration who served from 1913 to 1941. This award has been presented since 1988 to students having the highest academic standing throughout their junior year. Fifteen juniors received the LeRossignol Scholar Award this year.

Delta Sigma Pi is a professional fraternity organized to foster the study of business in universities and encourage scholarship, social activity and the association of students for their mutual advancement by research and practice. The Alpha Delta Chapter at UNL was formed in May 1924 and has had more than 2,000 members since its inception. The Delta Sigma Pi Scholarship Key is granted to students graduating in May with the highest grade point average in the college. Three seniors were honored with this recognition.

The Honors Ceremony also recognized students selected for membership in business honorary organizations Beta Alpha Psi, Beta Gamma Sigma and Delta Sigma Pi, and in university senior honorary organizations Innocents Society and Mortar Board. Prior to the event, 330 undergraduate business students were recognized for their cumulative academic achievements at the UNL All-University Honors Convocation, including three CBA seniors who were named as Chancellor's Scholars, the university's highest undergraduate academic honor.
