Business students receive their degrees and officially become Husker alumni in a combined graduate and undergraduate commencement ceremony on Saturday, Aug. 17, at 9 a.m. at Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln. University of Nebraska–Lincoln Chancellor Rodney D. Bennett will preside over the commencement ceremony and award doctoral, master's, juris doctor and bachelor's degrees, including 84 degrees to College of Business students.
“I am thrilled to congratulate each and every graduate and celebrate all the class of 2024 accomplished during their time with the College of Business. Our August graduates come from 20 states and multiple countries. As alumni, we know they will continue to drive discovery, create opportunity and lead the future of business wherever they go next — in Nebraska or around the world,” said Kathy Farrell, James Jr. and Susan Stuart Endowed Dean and professor of finance.
Among those receiving their degrees is Jason Alsup from Valley Park, Missouri, who fulfills a longtime dream by earning his Master of Business Administration. During his time in the MBA@Nebraska program, he also secured a new leadership role in Global Product Supply at Bayer Crop Science in St. Louis.
"Graduating from Nebraska is a huge milestone for me. It's the realization of a dream I've had for the past 20 years, and achieving it means a great deal to me," he said. "The best thing about being a Husker is finding other Huskers in everyday interactions." Read more of his story.
Recent graduates can also take advantage of the Nebraska Graduate Advantage Program (GAP) that aims to help remove possible financial barriers to those seeking to enhance their skills and employability. The program benefits graduates within the University of Nebraska system.
"We launched the Nebraska Graduate Advantage Program (GAP) to save 15% in graduate tuition in our online Master of Science in Business Analytics and Supply Chain Management programs. The special savings are available to those who earned their bachelor's degree from UNK, UNL and UNO in the last five years with a GPA of 3.2 or higher," said Farrell. "This opportunity helps meet the workforce needs in Nebraska and nationwide for workers with these in-demand, relevant technical skills."
The ceremony will be available to watch online at the Commencement website. For more information about the August ceremony or to watch it live, visit: https://commencement.unl.edu.
