Kathy's Point: Success and the Power of Giving
Dean Kathy Farrell and alumni, faculty, staff and friends create an environment at the College of Business where students can succeed.

As we approach the end of another calendar year, it’s a perfect time to acknowledge both the importance of success and the power of giving. Success at the College of Business includes many shared accomplishments that flourish within a community built on support, collaboration and generosity.

At Nebraska Business, the support of our dedicated faculty, staff, alumni and friends creates an environment where our students can thrive. However, the true measure of success extends beyond individual accomplishments—it is rooted in our collective responsibility to uplift one another. Giving, whether through time, resources or knowledge, can change the direction of someone’s life, as shared in this newsletter by three-time alum Barron Harvey, dean emeritus and associate provost for academic innovation and strategic initiatives at Howard University, and it also has a ripple effect.

We've seen this through five cohorts of the Investors With Purpose program, which fosters meaningful connections between students and industry leaders (featured in this newsletter), and impactful internships like Kenidy Irvine’s with Cornet Barcelona in Spain, which opens doors globally for students.

Additionally, we’re proud to announce our debut in The Princeton Review® and Entrepreneur® Top 50 Undergraduate Entrepreneurship Program ranking, a testament to the hard work and determination of those in our entrepreneurial ecosystem at Nebraska. Milestones like these are not just the result of individual effort – they reflect the giving spirit that defines us.

As you think about your own journey this year, I encourage you to consider how you can continue to give back. Your generosity—whether it’s a contribution to the college, sharing your expertise or starting new opportunities—makes a lasting impact.

Thank you for being an integral part of our community. Your continued support helps us grow, thrive and ensure that our students are empowered to reach their potential.

Happy Holidays!
