At the College of Business, we believe that the most profound learning occurs when students actively engage in real-world experiences. Our programs empower students to customize their educational journey, ensuring they not only learn about business but also practice it. This prepares them to make a tangible impact in the world.
Our commitment to experiential learning is exemplified by the achievements of our students. Here are a few examples featured in this newsletter:
- Networking on Wall Street: Members of the Wall Street Scholars of Nebraska, an organization for students pursuing careers in finance, traveled to New York City to meet and network with investment bankers and professionals and gained firsthand exposure to the financial industry's most competitive firms.
- Winning National Competitions: For three consecutive years, our supply chain management students won first place in the national Specialty Tool and Fastener Distributor Association (STAFDA) business competition. This accomplishment underscores their dedication and the practical skills they've honed through our programs.
Our faculty and students also collaborate on research that addresses pressing real-world challenges. For instance, Nebraska researchers explored how group purchasing organizations can reduce patient care costs in the healthcare sector. This research stemmed from dissertation work by a Ph.D. student and is the first paper within marketing to comprehensively analyze the governance role of organizational collectivities like Group Purchasing Organizations using empirical data.
Understanding the global nature of business is crucial. Alumnus Michael Rubach, inspired by his own international experiences, established the Michael Rubach Study Abroad Scholarship. This endowed fund supports College of Business students who aspire to study abroad but face financial constraints by making transformative global experiences more accessible.
The future of business is being shaped right here at Nebraska, and it's made possible through gifts like Michael's and those provided through Glow Big Red - 24 Hours of Giving in February. Your support creates hands-on learning experiences, funds life-changing scholarships and provides resources that help students prepare for their careers from day one of college.
Together, we are building future business leaders who will transform industries, communities and the world. Thank you for being a vital part of this journey.
