NBA Scholarship Requirements for Awardees
Finance Department
University of Nebraska–Lincoln

The award of an “NBA Scholarship” by the Finance Department carries the following rights and requirements for student Awardees.

  1. Scholarships will be awarded for one year with the option to renew for a second year provided students meet the conditions of the scholarship award. Renewal students must reapply.
  2. The maximum length of a scholarship to an individual is two years.
  3. Recipients of NBA Scholarships would also be eligible to receive University and CoB scholarships (although this may affect the total university funds awarded).
  4. Scholarship awardees would have be declared as a finance, banking or business major and meet the course requirements of that option to be eligible for an NBA Scholarship.
  5. Students must have and maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA to be eligible to apply for the NBA Scholarship.
  6. Applicants must be a Nebraska High School graduate, full-time student at UNL, and a United States Citizen or lawful permanent resident.
  7. NBA Scholarship recipients would be required to attend a student orientation each fall arranged by the Finance Department. The orientation would provide students with the opportunity to meet faculty, NBA representatives, and to receive advising and review the requirements of the NBA Scholarship.
  8. NBA Scholarship recipients would be required to attend specified portions (to be determined by the NBA Committee) of at least three NBA Education Seminars over the two years of the scholarship award. At least one of two of these seminars must be attended in the first year of the scholarship award to be eligible for continuation of the scholarship.
  9. NBA Scholarship recipients would be required to apply for enrollment in a Bank Internship course in the summer of the first year of the scholarship. The specific number of CoB applicants that would be accepted into this course would be on a space available basis as determined by openings at participating Nebraska banks. There would be no guarantee that all NBA Scholarship recipients would have the opportunity to have an internship but all would be required to apply.
  10. NBA Scholarship recipients would be recognized at the NBA Convention Luncheon. Students are expected to make a good faith effort to attend each year (this would not be required because of potential conflict with the UNL finals schedule).
  11. Scholarship stipend levels will be set by the NBA Scholarship Committee and initial awards will be $2,000 per year. Annual scholarship amounts will be credited to student scholarship accounts on a semester basis ($1000 per semester). Awards not claimed or utilized by students will revert to the NBA Scholarship fund.
