Zulkoski Honored with Early Achiever Award

Katie Zulkoski ’05 received the Early Achiever Award on behalf of the Nebraska Alumni Association on Friday, August 5, at its Alumni Awards Banquet. The award recognizes outstanding young graduates who receive consideration through nominations by faculty from their respective colleges.

Zulkoski majored in business administration at the UNL College of Business Administration, and later graduated first in her class at Creighton University School of Law, where she concentrated in business law. She worked in several law firms before opening Zulkoski Weber, where she works as owner, attorney and lobbyist.

Dr. Donde Plowman, James Jr. and Susan Stuart Endowed Dean of the College of Business Administration, lauded Zulkoski for the impact she has made in her short career since graduating from UNL. She particularly noted Zulkoski’s work on behalf of the welfare for the general public.

“Outside of her firm, Katie dedicates much of her time to public service,” said Plowman. “In addition to her work with advisory boards, alumni networking events and mentoring current CBA students, she is the proud founder of Rise Lincoln. Drawing on her desire to connect successful women across Lincoln with resources and solutions, helping everyone become better, stronger business and community leaders, Rise has grown into a motivating series for women business leaders.”

Zulkoski, originally from Ainsworth, Nebraska, focuses her work on successful legislative strategies for health care clients, national non-profits and associations of all sizes. She and her team promote and grow national and local businesses, associations and non-profits across the state.

The award also recognized her community activity, including serving on boards for Creighton University Alumni Association, Nebraska Land Trust and Nebraska Human Resources Institute. She is a member of the Leadership Nebraska Class III, a volunteer for Special Olympics and a member of the outreach committee for Westminster Presbyterian Church.

“Her work ethic and drive have piloted Katie into a career path that many aspire to achieve,” said Plowman. “She is writing her own story, and we are proud to say it started with CBA and the University of Nebraska.”
