Morgan Shaw Parker, '99, president and chief operating officer of the WNBA's Atlanta Dream, and Candy Marshall, '80, senior advisor of TheDream.US, keynote the Women Lead: Shattering Glass Ceilings conference on Friday, March 1, at Nebraska Innovation Campus. They are joined by Dr. Arin N. Reeves, author, founder and managing director of Nextions and founder of The JEDI Collective, who will lead a plenary session.
The third conference collaboration between the College of Business and College of Law at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln since 2020, Women Lead advances women in law, business, philanthropy and government. An array of inspiring leaders will share their personal leadership moments and lead breakout sessions in March and the conference is open to anyone interested in the advancement of women.
“Women Lead creates a space for women to learn from each other and grow their networks. This event sells out, which is a direct result of the investment from our generous sponsors and the contribution our speakers make of their time and expertise,” said Molly Brummond, ’00 & ’03, co-creator of Women Lead and assistant dean for student development and chief of staff for the College of Law. “The conference will help attendees develop the skills they need and inspire them to shatter their own glass ceilings, whatever that means for them.”
Women Lead began as a College of Law initiative to provide training and networking to women lawyers and a College of Business effort to provide leadHER development and connections for business professionals. The partnership of planning teams, ideas and energy led to Women Lead 2020: Claim Your Power, which sparked a sellout event in less than two months. This was followed by Women Lead 2022: Leading Through Change with a new slate of speakers and topics and another sellout at Innovation Campus.
“Our goal is to provide an empowering, uplifting and supportive experience to share, learn and connect. We are grateful to our inspiring, brilliant and brave keynote speakers, sponsors and presenters for Women Lead 2024 — and we will have even more women-owned businesses exhibiting this year. We are also thankful for the immense support from our college deans and our teams, because they make the magic happen. All are welcome and attendees should come for the robust learning and networking and leave with renewed energy and support from new friends,” said Sheri Irwin-Gish, ’03, co-creator of Women Lead and executive director of communications, marketing and external relations at the College of Business.
At press time, Women Lead sponsors included Husch Blackwell, Rembolt Ludtke, Baylor Evnen and Cline Williams. If interested in sponsoring, please contact Brummond at molly.brummond@unl.edu or Irwin-Gish at sirwin@unl.edu.
