UNL Actuarial Science Club hosts Drake Exchange

The University of Nebraska–Lincoln actuarial science club hosted the 2015 Drake Exchange, which brought together students from Drake University and UNL for discussions and presentations on success in the actuarial field.

The annual event alternates campuses with UNL hosting this year. The formal conference was held April 11, and featured Max Rudolph, founder of Rudolph Consulting LLC and an adjunct professor at Creighton University. His presentation focused on the topic “Enterprise Risk Management: A Good Fit for an Actuary.”He also provided a suggested a reading list for participants.
 
“Mr. Rudolph discussed how enterprise risk management is a good fit for the skill-set of actuaries and what roles actuaries can play in this field,” said Heather Clemens, assistant professor of practice in actuarial science.
 
UNL club members hosted 10 Drake students for the exchange, beginning April 10 with a tour of the UNL campus and adjacent downtown area, along with a laser tag outing. The group discussed club activities, professional preparation and career fair events. 
 
“Students from both clubs enjoyed the opportunity to network with each other and hear Mr. Rudolph’s perspective,” said Clemens.
