The University of Nebraska–Lincoln online MBA program, known as MBA@Nebraska, achieved another milestone this week with the announcement of a Top 10 placement in Poets & Quants
most recent ranking of online MBA programs. Nebraska ranked No. 8 in the nation, up nine spots from last year. The MBA@Nebraska ranked No. 2 in the Big Ten.
Dr. Jake Messersmith, executive director of graduate programs, guides the program on a day-to-day basis. The new ranking underscores the trajectory of the program he has witnessed since taking the helm in 2016.
“The Top 10 ranking by Poets & Quants
is a significant honor and testament to the quality of students who have elected to pursue their graduate education through the MBA@Nebraska,” said Messersmith. “The ranking is also evidence of the commitment of our student services staff, instructional design team and faculty to provide a first-class educational experience to our online students. The College of Business has elected to make an investment in online graduate education as we see this as the frontier for professional programs. We’re extremely excited to see these efforts bring the university positive attention from a highly reputable industry voice such as Poets & Quants.
The latest ranking comes on the heels of being ranked No. 1 for best value by Financial Times earlier in the year. U.S. News & World Report
put the program at No. 3 in the Big Ten for veterans.
Poets & Quants
sent surveys to schools and also asked them to allow additional surveys of graduates from online programs from 2016 to 2018. They used data gathered from schools for the admissions portion of the methodology, and data from the alumni survey for the MBA experience and career outcomes portions.
Admission standards counted for 50 percent of the ranking. Other measurables included student satisfaction survey results and career outcomes looking at whether alumni reached career goals, and whether the school provided students with a career coach or mentor. Salary increases as a result of an MBA program also factored into the rankings.
Poets & Quants
bills itself as the leading resource for complete coverage of graduate business education. They feature multiple tools and authoritative content, including: consolidated business school rankings, news and in-depth features, videos, podcasts, two searchable directories and events empowering the graduate education community with information relevant to making pre- and post-MBA decisions.
