Kathy's Point: Come Back to Celebrate 110 Years as a College

Alumni Invited to Business Alumni Tailgate, October 21
Kathy's Point: College to Celebrate 110 Years
Dean Kathy Farrell hands out diplomas at spring Commencement.

This fall marks 110 years of the College of Business leading the future of business. Though the first business class started when the University of Nebraska–Lincoln was founded, we wanted to celebrate another significant milestone in our long and storied history. We hope you and all our Husker business graduates will return to campus to celebrate with us at the Business Alumni Tailgate on Saturday, October 21. RSVP now and help us celebrate!

Though we are on summer break, our last newsletter was the June video edition celebrating our recent alumni and partner award winners. For that reason, I wanted to reflect on some of our impactful achievements at the College of Business this spring. From accounting majors winning the national Deloitte Audit Innovation Campus Challenge, the student-led Husker Venture Fund winning their regional Venture Capital Investment Competition in Boston before placing third in the global competition, to our accounting faculty ranking #1 in the Big Ten for accounting research productivity, as noted in the recent Nebraska Ledger magazine, it was an action-packed semester.

This Husker hustle led up to Commencement, where we graduated the record-breaking class of 2023. We also had the largest group of business students in recent history — 19 — named Chancellor’s Scholars for earning an A in all of their collegiate courses.

This newsletter highlights how some Class of 2023 graduates made their time matter at the College of Business and are ready to lead the future of business. These include:

For graduates across the University of Nebraska system, we launched the Nebraska Graduate Advantage Program (GAP) to SAVE 15% in graduate tuition in our online Master of Science in Business Analytics and Supply Chain Management programs. The special savings is available to those who earned their bachelor's degree from UNK, UNO and UNL in the last five years with a GPA of 3.2 or higher.

From our latest graduates to those who became alumni 50 or more years ago, we believe in "Once a Husker, Always a Husker." We would love to welcome you home at our Business Alumni Tailgate on Saturday, October 21. Join us for networking, food, fun and commemorating the college's 110 years of leading the future of business!

Together, we are Nebraska Business.
