College of Business faculty, staff and students recognized for recent achievements include members of the Big Red Investment Club, Sheri Irwin-Gish, Dr. Tawnya Means and Dr. Shawn Strother.
  • Members of the Big Red Investment Club and Dr. Shawn Strother, assistant professor of practice in finance and the student organization’s faculty advisor, celebrate their organization’s acceptance into the Student Managed Investment Fund Consortium, a community of institutions with a shared vision for student success and leadership in investing. As a member of the consortium, Nebraska Business students gained access to best practices in investment management to utilize as they oversee the BRIC investment fund and opportunities to compete in pitch competitions where they analyze firm performance.
  • Dr. Tawnya Means, assistant dean, director of the Teaching and Learning Center, and assistant professor of practice in management, shared her expertise internationally in September. During the September 27 Academic Impressions webcast called Making the Business Case for Active Learning Spaces, Means co-led a discussion on gathering research and strategies when planning for active learning spaces. Additionally, as a leader of the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) Online Learning Affinity Group, she and other faculty, administrators and learning technologists across the globe who have responsibilities in online learning examined in a September 20 webinar a survey on online enrollment in the U.S. They also discussed and identified top online learning needs in business schools including training for faculty to develop and teach online courses, academic integrity, active learning strategies for online classes and improving the quality of instructor-made course videos.
