Achievements for December 14, 2018
College of Business students and faculty recognized for recent achievements include Danielle Breen, Mun Chun Cheong, Deb Cosgrove, Kathi Ellis, Allison Olmer, Jenna Rempe, Dr. Eric Thompson and Fang Yue.
  • Four seniors were named Chancellor’s Scholars: Danielle Breen, an accounting major from Ames, Iowa; Mun Chun Cheong, an actuarial science major from Ipoh, Malaysia; Jenna Rempe, an accounting and finance major from Lincoln, Nebraska; and Fang Yue, a finance major from Haining, China. Chancellor’s Scholars are students who have maintained 4.0 grade-point averages on all collegiate work at Nebraska and elsewhere.
  • Deb Cosgrove, associate professor of practice in accountancy, was recognized as a Beta Alpha Psi Outstanding Faculty Advisor for 2018. She has received the recognition from the international honor organization for accounting, finance and information systems for multiple years.
  • Kathi Ellis, business manager in the Office of the Dean, was celebrated at her retirement reception held December 6. For 34 years, she oversaw the finance and budget activities and associated business processes, analysis and reporting for the college.
  • Allison Olmer receives a certificate proclaiming her the Nebraska Business Student of the Month from Dean Kathy Farrell.

    The Nebraska Business Student Advisory Board selected Allison Olmer, senior supply chain management major from Elkhorn, Nebraska, as the Student of the Month. She is involved in the Nebraska Supply Chain Club, where she grew the club’s membership by 78 percent in nine months, Nebraska Business Honors Academy, William H. Thompson Learning Community, University Honors Program, NU Toasters, Great Plains National Security Education Community and more.
  • An economic impact study on the Lancaster Event Center by Dr. Eric Thompson, director of the Bureau of Business Research and Karl H. Nelson Professor of Economics, was highlighted in a Nov. 19 Lincoln Journal Star article. The study shows the event center adds about $40 million to the local economy, provides 531 jobs and generates $1.3 million in taxes each year.
