Chase Caverzagie, a senior actuarial science major from Papillion, Nebraska, will travel abroad to Benin in West Africa this December. Prior to the trip, students in their International Studies – Business & Economics (BSAD 491) class are working on two projects to explore the complexities of international trade and business in the frontier market. In Benin, the students plan to interview Beninese and other African immigrants to better understand their culture and experiences. The students will then present their plans to expand tourism and create employment for young people in Benin. Caverzagie selected the global immersion program to experience the African culture firsthand and learn from those in the College of Business who are familiar with the region. The most popular study abroad program offered by the university, Nebraska at Oxford celebrates its 30th anniversary this summer. In her four-weeks in England, she will take two courses concerning the British political and international economic policy. Scott chose to study abroad at Oxford because she has always had an affinity for British culture and wanted to have the experience of studying at the world’s oldest English-speaking university. Anne Greff, a junior economics major from Lincoln, Nebraska, is studying abroad July 16-August 12. She is one of 70 students participating in the 29th annual Nebraska at Oxford Program at the University of Oxford in England, the oldest university in the English-speaking world. Greff chose to apply for the Nebraska at Oxford program because it enables her to complete six economics credit hours while exploring and familiarizing herself with English culture. She said, “I'm most excited to get to explore new places with new friends. Marin Olson, a junior marketing major from Julesburg, Colorado, is studying abroad June 11-July 7 in Italy as part of the College of Business Global Immersion program Italy: Analyzing Supply Chain Management Around the Amalfi Coast. She and her classmates will learn about the supply chain management systems in both Italian and multinational companies, tour Italian businesses such as an olive oil factory, go on excursions to places like Pompeii and more during the four-week trip. She looks forward to experiencing a different culture, taking herself out of her comfort zone and seeing the world outside of Colorado and Nebraska. The faculty at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln College of Business Administration recently approved changes to the undergraduate curriculum. Beginning in the fall of 2017, BSAD 150, Business Computer Applications will change to BSAD 50, and the Business Analytics/Information Analysis (SCMA 350) course will include an additional one-credit hour lab, SCMA 350L. BSAD 50 will provide more flexibility for students to complete the requirement in an online format, and SCMA 350/350L was updated to ensure students are best prepared for the demands of the business environment. » Full Article

More than 900 business students at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln were named to the College of Business Administration Dean’s List and Honor Roll for the fall semester of the 2016-17 academic year. The 901 undergraduates who received this honor maintained a cumulative grade-point average of 3.6 or higher for the semester. The college also recognized 222 undergraduate students for achieving a 4.0 GPA. Twenty-one master of business administration students qualified for the Dean’s List with a 4.0 GPA and nine or more credit hours for the semester, and 58 students with a 4.0 GPA and six or more credit hours made the Honor Roll. » Full Article

The University of Nebraska–Lincoln senior from Omaha, Nebraska, is a double major in international business and French and has minors in economics and Japanese.
