Joshua DeMers, a junior management major from Hordville, Nebraska, will study abroad in Germany from May 17 to June 16. He will be taking part in the Supply Chain Systems of Management global immersion program in Heilbronn, Germany. DeMers has an abundance of family history in Germany and always wanted to get the chance to immerse himself in the German culture. Students found success during their first semester in Howard L. Hawks Hall. More than 1,000 business students at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln were named to the Nebraska Business Dean’s List for the 2017 fall semester. The 929 undergraduate students who earned this recognition upheld a cumulative grade-point average of 3.6 or higher for the semester. A 14.8 percent increase in first-time freshmen students – with 839 joining the college as of September – spurred the growth. Student teams at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln College of Business Administration competed in the 2017 Union Pacific (UP) case competition, delivering presentations to UP executives to make recommendations on investing in the emerging sage grass market. Teams received the case summary at 8:30 a.m. and had until noon to consult with UP managers, build a business plan and create a power point presentation. Courtney Van Hoosen jokes about being the type of person who has to be busy or she gets sick. The University of Nebraska–Lincoln senior from Omaha, Nebraska, is a double major in international business and French and has minors in economics and Japanese. She plays club volleyball, is an intern at Sandhills Publishing and interned this summer in Europe. This spring she formed a new student organization in the College of Business Administration called the Husker International Business Club. She has done it all while also participating in the CBA Honors Academy, and serving as secretary and treasurer for its student council.

Phoebe Lockhart, a junior economics major at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln College of Business Administration, was selected to participate in the 2016 Mount Vernon Leadership Fellowship program at the home of George Washington in Mount Vernon, Virginia. The Ogallala, Nebraska, native was one of 16 students from across the United States in the intensive leadership development program for nearly six-weeks this summer. The fellowship program is for incoming juniors who want to learn from George Washington’s leadership lessons,interact with leaders in the corporate, government and military sectors in the nation’s capital andmake a difference in the world. » Full Article

High-Achieving Students Selected as CBA Honors Academy Class of 2020

Forty-three recent high school graduates have been selected to join the College of Business Administration Honors Academy at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln this fall. This group of incoming freshmen are high-achieving students with an average ACT score of more than 31 and who have demonstrated leadership potential through involvement in school and community activities. This will be the fourth cohort of the CBA Honors Academy since its inception in 2013.

CBA Honors Academy Students Win NCLC Case Competition

The College of Business Administration Honors Academy at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln took two teams of students to compete in a case competition at the National Collegiate Leadership Conference at the University of Arizona in Tucson from February 12-14. DeAnna Masterson, a junior marketing and global studies major from Lincoln, and Magella Swanson, a junior international business major from Doniphan, Nebraska, won first place out of the 15 teams from universities across the nation.

Construction of UNL's new College of Business Administration Building launched with a ceremonial turning of dirt on March 4.

Thirty-nine freshmen have been selected to be part of the College of Business Administration Honors Academy at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln this fall.
