The University of Nebraska–Lincoln online MBA program built upon its strong reputation this week by appearing in the Top 20 of Poets & Quants inaugural ranking of the top 25 online MBA programs. The Nebraska program ranks No. 17 in the nation and No. 2 in the Big Ten, while already holding strong placements by U.S. News & World Report, Princeton Review and Financial Times.

Dr. Jake Messersmith, executive director of graduate programs, began guiding the MBA program in 2016. His leadership maintains an excellence in the program long recognized for being a pioneer in the delivery of distance MBA education.

“We are honored to be listed among the top 20 online MBA programs in the country by Poets & Quants in their inaugural ranking,” said Messersmith. “Poets & Quants has long been a leading voice in graduate management education and we appreciate the rigorous approach they take evaluating programs based on admissions selectivity, the student experience and career outcomes. We value the connection we make with our students from across the country, and will continue to invest in building a quality, engaging and high return on investment program in the online space.”

One area of transformation for the Nebraska online MBA program during the following year includes the transformation of the look and style of the online learning experience. The new format provides better continuity with new technologies in order to make coursework clearer and easier to complete for students. For instance, video lectures appear in a YouTube-like environment where additional resources surrounding the video provide for more fluid interaction with the curriculum.

The Poets & Quants rankings derived from data gathered from schools and alumni surveys. Quality of incoming students, assessment of graduates' MBA experiences and career outcomes all received equal weight in the final computations for the rankings.

Poets & Quants bills itself as the leading resource for complete coverage of graduate business education. They feature multiple tools and authoritative content, including: consolidated B-school rankings, news and in-depth features, videos, podcasts, two searchable directories and events empowering the graduate education community with information relevant to making pre- and post-MBA decisions.
