With the spring semester completed, we can look back on the events of this year and see how the School of Accountancy is progressing and growing to meet the needs of our students, alumni, business partners, faculty and staff. We just celebrated our fifth semi-annual Graduation Celebration and had record-breaking attendance with more than 200 faculty, staff, students and families in attendance. We also had the opportunity to hear from our first group of students who went through the new internship program. As visitors to our Advisory Board Meeting, students shared how splitting the spring semester with an eight to 10-week internship and a six-week class schedule worked for them. To read more about their feedback, please see the article attached to our newsletter. If you would like more information about the internship program and how to participate, please call our main office at 402-472-2337.
The College of Business Administration has also announced a new minor in business analytics, which will give our accounting students a competitive advantage in the business world when working with data analytics. Our college continues to grow with new programs like that minor, increases in faculty and students and progress on the new CBA building, which celebrated 400 days of construction last week. Our alumni are also finding great success. We are excited for Dr. Tom Kubick ’11, assistant professor of accounting and information systems at the University of Kansas, for his many accomplishments. To read about Tom, please see the article in this newsletter.
The School of Accountancy is also increasing our online presence. We now have a Twitter account that reports news and events at @UNLACCT and a LinkedIn group at UNL School of Accountancy. Please join us on these platforms and stay up-to-date on what is going on with the school.
Your support has allowed us to progress and grow at the School of Accountancy. It is an exciting time to be a part of the School of Accountancy, and I would like to personally thank each of you for your support.
Sincerely,
Aaron Crabtree, Director
School of Accountancy
