CBA, Senshu Celebrate 30 Year Partnership

In 1985, the University of Nebraska–Lincoln College of Business Administration and Senshu University signed a student exchange agreement to give students from each university the chance to study for a semester in a different culture. A Senshu 30th Anniversary Celebration was held on Thursday, November 19 in CBA to celebrate this partnership during National International Education Week.

“I would like to congratulate CBA for recognizing the value of this international relationship,” said David Wilson, associate vice chancellor for academic affairs. “I believe in international education and the sustained international engagement efforts of this specific program is what brought us here today and will carry us into tomorrow.”

Those in attendance at the celebration included alumni of the program with five members from the first UNL Senshu class. The alumni had the opportunity to connect with CBA faculty and staff members as well as current students interested in the Senshu experience.

“I continually hear from our Senshu program participants that the Japan experience is the most important experience of their college career,” said Dr. Scott M. Fuess Jr., Karl H. Nelson Professor of Economics and department chair. “This program has been consistently active and produced an outstanding partnership. It is an honor to celebrate the 30th anniversary of this program.”

Jake Kluczynski, a senior international business major from Saugus, California, studied at Senshu in the fall of 2014. He chose Senshu as his study abroad experience because he fell in love with the language and had an interest in the Japanese culture. He highly recommends this experience for CBA students.

“Traveling to Japan was my first international travel experience, and it totally took me outside my comfort zone,” said Kluczynski. “Once I arrived in Japan, I realized the world is really a small place and the experience of your life is just a plane ride away. I’m glad I took advantage of this study abroad opportunity.”
