Agribusiness involves one in every four jobs in Nebraska and one in every five jobs in the U.S. Our joint program between the College of Business and the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources (CASNR) is designed to give you the educational background you’ll need to have a successful career in the dynamic and rapidly changing world of agribusiness. The first of its kind in the U.S., the program blends the technical competence of modern agricultural and food systems with the decision-making framework of business. You should enroll in the program through the College of Business if your interest lies primarily in the business side of this industry.

The majority of your coursework will be centered around a business core which enables you to develop professionally and gain skills in diverse areas of business and technology. Additionally, you’ll take 31 hours of coursework from CASNR in areas such as agricultural economics, animal science, energy science, entomology, natural resources, plant science, food science and technology, Engler agribusiness entrepreneurship and many more. You can customize the major by choosing production, non-production and elective classes to build your expertise in a specific area of interest.

There are many ways to secure internship and employment opportunities, whether it’s through the College of Business or the Ag Career Fair held each fall and spring semester.

During the Ag Career Fair, many companies come to campus to provide information about employment, answer questions and accept resumes for internships or employment after graduation.

Year round, you can utilize the College of Business Career Center, which ranks among the top career services providers. There, you’ll have access to a personal career coach, either in person or online, a 24/7 online résumé review tool and a strong network of more than 30,000 Nebraska Business alumni, employers and friends. Getting involved on campus makes you more marketable to employers and helps you build leadership, communication, teamwork and organizational skills. Agribusiness-related organizations include the UNL American Marketing Association Collegiate Chapter and the National Agri-Marketing Association.

Though our program is based in the Department of Marketing in Howard L. Hawks Hall, your classes will be on both City and East campus, which are approximately two miles apart. You can use the free Nebraska bus system for transportation. Shuttles run every 15 minutes during peak course times.
