Overview

The 1040 Workshop is offered in two formats:

  • In-Person Seminar: Held at the College of Business on Thursday, January 11, 2024 from 8:30 a.m. – 4:40 p.m. $339
  • Online live-streaming 1 day webinar: Streamed using Zoom platform on Thursday, January 11, 2024. Attendees have to be continuously present during the webinar to earn CE credits. $299

This webinar will be live- streamed using Zoom platform. Webinar room will be opened 15 minutes prior to starting time.

What is included in registration?
Your registration includes the access link to join the webinar, as well as the 1040 Workshop slide deck (300+ slides).

Access links will be emailed to the email address used in registration one week prior to the event. The webinar will be facilitated using the Zoom platform. High-speed stable internet connection is essential for the best learning experience.

Slide Deliveries
The slide deck will be emailed to the email address provided during registration. We strongly recommend printing the slides for note-taking purposes prior to the webinar. Slides are copyrighted, intellectual property and sharing the slides in any shape or form is prohibited.

Continuing Education Credits
Look under the Continuing Education tab for approved credits.
Upon completion of the in-person program a certificate of attendance will be emailed to each participant.

Virtual Attendance
Online attendance will be taken periodically. Please make sure that you respond to the on-screen attendance poll promptly to ensure that your attendance is recorded. We are required to have your answers on file to issue your certificate of attendance and applicable CE credits.

Group viewing is allowed. Each group is required to designate an onsite proctor. The proctor has the responsibility of ensuring all individuals at the site are paying attention to the program and are not engaging in activities unrelated to the live-streaming webinar. In addition, the proctor has to submit the appropriate group viewing attendance form that can be downloaded below. Each group member is required to register to the webinar.

Cancellation, Format Change and Payment Policy
If you are paying by check, the check payment must be received before January 11, 2024. If payment cannot be mailed in time, you may also make a credit or debit card payment over the phone. You must cancel your registration by January 4, 2024 to receive a 90% refund. Please call or email the Tax Institute to cancel your registration. 402-472-4357 or taxinstitute@unl.edu.

If you would like to switch from livestreaming to in-person, this needs to be done by January 4, 2024 and you will be charged the difference in price between the formats, which is $49. If you need to change formats after January 4, there will also be a $25 administrative fee added. Please call or email the Tax Institute to change formats. 402-472-4357 or taxinstitute@unl.edu.

You will receive the 1040 Workshop slide deck (300+ slides) when you arrive to the seminar. Breakfast and lunch will also be provided, as well as parking at no additional cost to you.

Guido van der Hoeven serves as the chief editor of the Land Grant Agriculture book published yearly by the Land Grant University Tax Education Foundation. He recently retired from the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics at North Carolina State University where he provided resources and program leadership in the areas of taxation, intergenerational transfers, estate planning, and farm management. Prior to his retirement, he was the director of the University of North Carolina Income Tax Schools. He has testified before the United States Congress Committee on Agriculture, where he addressed the impact of Tax Code changes on the agriculture industry. Guido, as a tax professional and as a speaker, places a premium on clarity and precision – with an occasion dash of humor.


FAQ

Can I transfer formats?
Yes. If you would like to transfer from in-person to livestreaming you can do that by contacting the Tax Institute. If you transfer your registration by Thursday, January 4, 2024, there is no administrative fee. For any change in format after January 4, a $25 administrative fee will be charged. There will be no refunds for the difference in price between the formats if you switch after January 4, 2024. If you are switching from livestreaming to in-person, you will be charged the difference in price between the formats, which is $49. This also needs to be done by Thursday, January 4, 2024 to ensure the $25 administrative fee isn’t added.

When will I receive my Certificate of Attendance for CPE/CEU/MCLE purposes?
Every effort will be made to issue Certificates of Attendance in a timely manner. Certificates will be emailed out within two weeks of the completion of the seminar. We will email certificates to the email address you provided in your registration.

If we receive a rejection from your Professional Licensing Organization that you do not exist, we will notify you by email.

Will you send out an email reminder?
Yes. Whether you are attending in-person or livestreaming the program we will send you an email one week prior to the seminar. For those of you attending in-person, you will receive an email with information on the time, location and parking. For those attending via webinar, you will receive an email with the links to join the webinar and all other pertinent livestreaming information.

What is the scope of purpose of tax seminars?
Instruction materials, discussions, and written materials utilized are for continued professional education purposes only and are not intended to be legal, accounting, tax, payroll, investment or other professional advice.

Is recording/sharing allowed?
