LEAD IN LIFE AND IN BUSINESS
You are the future of business. Spend a week in July at the College of Business to learn about the dynamic world of business and explore potential career opportunities. You’ll make connections with people with similar goals as you as well as interact with faculty and staff who will push you to do your best as you sharpen leadership and networking skills. Walk away with new friends and perspective, resources to tackle the college admissions process and even qualify for a $2,000 scholarship for completing the program.

Nominate or Apply
Teachers and counselors are encouraged to nominate one or more students they think would be excellent candidates. Click nominate below and provide us with your student’s contact information and why they would be a great addition to the academy.

Applications open January 2 and are due by March 15 at 11:59 p.m. We suggest having a parent, guardian or counselor read your essays before submitting. You will be notified of their acceptance by early April.

Who Attends the Academy?

Current high school juniors expected to graduate in May 2021, who earned a 2.5 GPA or higher, have an interest in business and meet at least one of the following additional criteria:

• First-generation college student
• Underrepresented identity
• Meet federal guidelines for low-income status or qualify for free or reduced lunch

• Participate in a college experience first-hand – academically and socially
• Tour local businesses
• Align skills with their career goals
• Present your ideas in a professional context
• Learn about opportunities at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln
• Work in a team to create a business and present your idea to a panel of judges

• Connect with other students with similar dreams as you and network with business leaders, faculty and staff who can help you make them happen
• Qualify for a $2,000 scholarship when you complete the program (You qualify for the Emerging Leaders Scholarship as long as you meet additional academic requirements your senior year in high school.)

• Attend at no cost and also receive free room and board in a residence hall during the academy
