Warren Buffett Receives Medal of Freedom Award

Former UNL College of Business Administration student Warren Buffett was recently awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom. The Medal of Freedom is the nation's highest civilian honor.

Buffett, who began investing in Omaha, Nebraska at age 11, continues to be one of the most recognized and respected investors in the world today. His leadership as chairman and CEO in guiding Berkshire Hathaway holding company has created one of the most successful investment companies in U.S. history and has often brought national attention to the state of Nebraska.

Buffett was recognized with the Medal of Freedom for "devoting the vast majority of his wealth to those around the world who are suffering, or sick, or in need of help." Other awardees with Buffett included former President George H.W. Bush, artist Jasper Johns, poet Maya Angelou, basketball great Bill Russell, and others.
