MBA@Nebraska Recognized as Top 20 Program by U.S. News & World Report

Online MBA Program Jumps Five Spots to No. 17 in the Nation
MBA@Nebraska Recognized as Top 20 Program by U.S. News & World Report
The MBA@Nebraska program moved into the Top 20 in the U.S. News and World Report rankings for online MBA programs at No. 17 in the nation. The program additionally ranked No. 13 among public institutions, No. 4 in the Big Ten and No. 11 for veterans.

U.S. News & World Report recognized the University of Nebraska–Lincoln Master of Business Administration program – called MBA@Nebraska – as a Top 20 national online program for 2021. Jumping five spots to No. 17 in overall online programs, the MBA@Nebraska also ranked No. 13 among public institutions, No. 4 in the Big Ten and No. 11 for veterans.

The ranking, which increased by nine spots in the last two years, comes on the heels of a recent No. 13 placement by The Princeton Review® for 2021. Additionally, Poets&Quants ranked the MBA@Nebraska ninth in 2020.

“The world needs business leaders who are able to navigate the rapidly changing business environment. Our online graduate education in the College of Business trains and develops leaders who advance our state, country and the world,” said Dr. Kathy Farrell, James Jr. and Susan Stuart Endowed Dean of the College of Business. “We’re fulfilling our mission by empowering individuals from Nebraska to Nepal to lead the future of business, and we’re doing it at the highest levels.”

The program also scores high marks as offering the best value for the money versus other highly ranked programs. Costs to earn a degree through the MBA@Nebraska program total less than $32,000 including tuition and fees. Patrick Jungers, ’02, ’18, senior information technology leader at Nelnet, earned his MBA to grow in his career including using analytics to better manage.

“The value of an MBA from Nebraska is hard to overstate. Every course provided me with insight into the workings of my company and many of them provided me actionable ideas to bring back to my team,” said Jungers.

U.S. News & World Report ranks programs based on five key indicators: engagement, expert opinion, faculty credential and training, student excellence, and student services and technologies. Engagement weighted highest on the list, which was particularly meaningful during the past year as faculty ramped up their ingenuity to deal with students' potential isolation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. A survey of high-ranking academic officials at MBA programs helped quantify intangible factors not captured through statistical measures.

“The Nebraska program is such that I could make it unique to me and what I’m passionate about,” said Dr. Jamie Williams, ’09, ’20, who received his MBA last May. “All the faculty deliver information in their own style and that’s what I wanted. They bring in their own experience, personality and opinions that provide the foundation to make you think about business in different ways. I talk about always trying to exceed expectations myself, and that’s exactly what the Nebraska program did.”
