Dr. Roger Butters Puts Nebraska Council on Economic Education on the Map

Dr. Roger Butters focuses on making economics fun for K-12 students across Nebraska. His leadership in the Nebraska Council on Economic Education has brought economic education to children throughout the state which in many cases would otherwise not be available.

Two of the biggest activities Butters promotes are the Stock Market Game and the Bank in the School Program. The Stock Market Game helps young people learn about investing money in the stock market through simulated real world investments. The Bank in the School Program brings Nebraska banks into schools in order to teach children the value of saving money and introduce them to a banking environment. In addition to these activities the Council also works with teachers to enhance the economic learning opportunities that often couldn't be done without the Council's support.

Butters has also played a key role in business education nationally. He has helped create various online challenges that are used by students throughout the country to compete in the areas of economics and finance.

Butters has been with the UNL College of Business Administration since 2005 and has expertise in the areas of Economic Education, Monetary Policy, and International Trade and Finance.
