Start Something. That is our new tag line at CBA. We feel like we have started something really big here in CBA – 25 new faculty, explosive growth in new students two years in a row, the new CBA Honors Academy (45 great students starting this fall), Career Services at CBA, a new supply chain management program, and a major in management and entrepreneurship.  The list goes on.

One of the things we hear from our students is they feel the sense of community growing stronger in CBA every year. To build upon that sense of community this year and introduce them to our entire CBA community, we are kicking off the school year with a 100-Year Anniversary Back to School Bash on Friday, August 23 from 4-6 p.m. The celebration will be held on the west side of our building for students, alumni, faculty/staff, parents and business partners. Free food, live music and much more is planned. RSVP at: http://cba.unl.edu/bash. There is also a story about our 100 years of educating business leaders and the Back to School Bash in this newsletter.

By the way, if you are an alumnus and want to get news about CBA early, make sure to sign up to be a CBA Insider on our new ALUMNI CONNECTS page: http://cba.unl.edu/alumni/alumni-connect.aspx

Secondly, if you are parent and want news about CBA, make sure to sign up  on the new PARENTS CONNECT page: http://cba.unl.edu/students/parents/parents-connect.aspx

The Nebraska at Oxford study abroad program, which celebrated its 25th year this summer, just ended and students are returning home. I was fortunate to attend this year along with Chancellor Harvey Perlman, CBA Associate Dean Dr. Kathy Farrell, Dr. Dennis Duchon and Dr. Sam Allgood. One of our management students, Steven Craig, also attended and has been blogging about his experiences at Oxford. To read his blog, click here: http://cba.unl.edu/news/follow-steven-craig-s-nebraska-at-oxford-blog/?contentGroup=home&regionName=tile. More than 1,600 students have now shared this life-changing study abroad experience. Professors Martin Holmes and Nick Horsewood will be joining us for a Nebraska at Oxford Reunion tailgate on October 5 prior to the Illinois game. We hope all Nebraska at Oxford alumni will join us, and invites will be sent soon.

This fall the college is welcoming eight new faculty, which helps accommodate our increasing enrollment and raises the level of our research capabilities. We are simultaneously recruiting additional new faculty for 2014 as we maintain our vision on increasing capacities as a world class business school by the time we move into our new building in 2017. Speaking of the new building, we have been working hard all summer with the architects on plans for the facility. We hope to have more detailed renderings of the plans in a few weeks which will kick off the next phase of our fundraising. The building will be magnificent.

None of these things would happen without the support of people like each of you. Thank you for helping us Start Something at CBA, and we look forward to seeing many of you soon. GO BIG RED!
