ConAgra Finance Manager Tess Campos Speaks to Accounting Students at CBA

The CBA School of Accountancy Intermediate Accounting II class recently welcomed Tess Campos of ConAgra Foods to speak with students about accounting practices used at her company. The class focuses on ConAgra's financial statements to learn how accounting disclosures in the real word relate to textbook examples.

Campos, a finance manager of internal audit at ConAgra, talked to students regarding the use of SWOT analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats). Campos also answered questions the students had about her experiences at ConAgra.

Joy Embree, a doctoral student who teaches the class, was enthused with the presentation that Campos gave to CBA students.

"Tess talked about how ConAgra makes important accounting estimates and applies Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)," Embree said. "She also turned coach and encouraged students to pursue accounting internships, mentioning the possibility of interning at ConAgra."

CBA students have had internships through ConAgra in the past, and many have gone on to pursue careers at the company.

Campos has worked in the field of accounting for over ten years, and received her masters in accounting from the Robert H. Smith School of Business, University of Maryland.
