Agribusiness Grad Devin Lovgren Excelled at Steward Seed Lab Internship

Devin Lovgren’s pre-professional internship last summer helped prepare him for life after graduating from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln College of Business Administration. After the agribusiness major interned at the Stewart Seed Lab on the UNL East Campus last summer, he acquired the hands-on experience needed in his field. After graduating in May, he will work at Waverly Farmer’s Cooperative Agronomy Department.

“At my internship, I was able to work with some of the best researchers in the industry. The Stewart Seed Lab is revolutionary in not only the way they conduct research, but by how they set the standard for all other seed research facilities in the United States,” Lovgren said. “It definitely left me awestruck.”

At his internship, Lovgren had the chance to build on a variety of skills in a real-world setting and travel in Nebraska.

“It’s a fast paced environment, but one where you are always learning something new,” he said.“We worked all over Nebraska - from Clay Center to Norfolk - doing everything from putting water sensors in to pulling weeds and making sure the soybeans had the best opportunity to grow.”

The Steward Seed Lab was founded in 1969 and has a long standing tradition providing cutting edge research for the industry and great educational experiences for students. Lovgren recommends that all students take an internship to apply what is learned in the classroom and use it in a work setting.

“If a student wants to learn how to work with people, machines and plants and set the standard for seed research across the country, then I would recommend checking out the possibilities with the Stewart Seed Lab,”he said.
