College of Business students and faculty recognized for recent achievements include Tommie Brechbill, Kristen Fellhoelter, Carolyn Fraher, Samantha Kennelly, Raghav Kidambi, Dr. Ann Mari May, Dr. Mary McGarvey, Miranda McWatters, Dr. Amber Messersmith, Joey Osbron, Connor O’Meara, Sue Vagts, Yufan Wang, Allison Weber and Abyn Yacob.
 
  • Kyklos International Review of Social Sciences recognized a 2018 article published by Dr. Ann Mari May, professor of economics, Dr. Mary McGarvey, associate professor of economics, and Dr. David Kucera of the International Labour Organization in Geneva, Switzerland, as one of the journal’s top 20 most downloaded recent papers. The article “Gender and European Economic Policy: A Survey of the Views of European Economists on Contemporary Economic Policy” provides the first systematic analysis of differences in views of male and female economists in Europe on a broad range of topics including core precepts, government intervention, taxes, environmental protection and equal opportunity.

Five supply chain management majors were selected to present Nebraska at the Specialty Tools and Fasteners Distributors Association (STAFDA) conference in Phoenix.
  • Five members of the Nebraska Supply Chain Club were selected to attend the Specialty Tools and Fasteners Distributors Association (STAFDA) conference in Phoenix. The supply chain management majors who represented the university included Tommie Brechbill of Stanton, Nebraska; Carolyn Fraher of Oakland, Nebraska; Miranda McWatters of Rockford, Michigan; Connor O’Meara of Northville, Michigan; and Abyn Yacob of Wheaton, Illinois. The association selected the students to gain knowledge and networking opportunities at the conference, as well be paired with mentors in the industry.
 
  • Four business majors teamed up with journalism students to compete in the annual Oath case competition hosted by the Verizon subsidiary, which includes AOL and Yahoo!, in Omaha, Nebraska. Allison Weber, a junior management and marketing major from Groton, South Dakota, who is also pursuing the undergraduate certificate in professional selling, was a part of the winning cross-university team. Other competitors included Kristen Fellhoelter, a senior marketing and advertising and public relations major from Bridgeport, Nebraska; Joey Osbron, a junior international business major from Valencia, California; and Yufan Wang, senior marketing major from Hangzhou, China. Jemalyn Griffin, assistant professor of practice in advertising, served as their faculty sponsor.
 
  • The Alpha Delta chapter of Delta Sigma Pi recognized four Nebraska Business faculty members who became faculty initiates of the coed business fraternity on Nov. 11. Faculty initiates were Samantha Kennelly, assistant director of the Clifton Strengths Institute; Dr. Amber Messersmith, lecturer in management; and Sue Vagts, director of the actuarial science program and Ameritas Faculty Fellow.
