21st Annual Mittelstaedt Doctoral Symposium to Have Strong Big Ten Presence

The 21st Annual Robert Mittelstaedt Doctoral Symposium will be March 29-31, 2012 at the Embassy Suites.  The symposium, hosted by the College of Business Administration's Marketing Department, emphasizes dissertation research.  The symposium is modeled after the Haring Symposium held annually by the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University.

Participating schools send students and faculty to attend.  The symposium starts with a welcome reception on Thursday night. On Friday, doctoral students will present their dissertation research and other students will serve as discussants. A banquet will be held Friday evening and on Saturday morning the rest of the doctoral students will present.  Faculty help provide constructive feedback to the student's paper.  This gives graduate students the opportunity to present their research and give them the experience of presenting in a conference setting.

In addition to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, other Big Ten schools participating this year include the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, University of Iowa, the Ohio State University and University of Wisconsin-Madison. Other schools participating in the symposium include the University of Missouri, University of Wyoming, University of Oregon, University of Cincinnati, University of Oklahoma, Oklahoma State University, Iowa State University and Washington State University.

Dr. Jim Gentry, graduate chair for the marketing department, serves as faculty advisor to the symposium.
