Student Assistant - Business Advising and Student Engagement (BASE) -- APPLY FOR JOB

Business Advising and Student Engagement (BASE) in 125 HLH is seeking a positive, conscientious, customer service focused student for the position of Student Assistant. Employment will begin immediately. This position is available for all UNL students. Work study students are encouraged to apply.

Successful candidates for the Student Assistant position will recognize how their individual strengths and those of others contribute to BASE’s mission to educate, empower, and encourage students through a teaching and learning partnership dedicated to promoting students’ academic, personal, and professional growth.

Primary duties include:
  • Greeting and assisting visitors by answering questions, directing phone calls, scheduling appointments, and monitoring student traffic in the BASE office.
  • Assisting office personnel with administrative tasks such as data entry, mail processing, and other office support responsibilities.
  • Assisting office personnel with research, creative tasks, and other special projects using Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, and other software programs.

  • Experience working with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, and other creative software is preferred but not required.
Study Abroad Student Coordinator
Duties include collaborating and planning recruitment for next year’s education abroad programs, including communicating with students about the program options, coordinating and presenting information sessions for participants, and planning and managing special events.

Responsibilities:
• Markets, recruits, advises, and prepares students to participate in education abroad through one-on-one meetings and presentations
• Aids in coordinating education abroad fairs (up to two per semester), pre-departure orientations, and classroom visits
• Manages marketing materials and maintains accurate student records related to study abroad
• Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements:
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
• Ability to multitask and attention to detail
• Outstanding written and oral communication and decision-making skills
• Experience with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint (preferred)
• Complete study abroad experience prior to first day of employment

Two positions are available. Application deadlines is April 26, 2017. Preference given to College of Business students who have participated in a Global Immersion Program (program completed by end of Summer 2017).
