  • My name is Shih-Hsien "Johnny" Chuang. I am currently a Ph.D. Candidate in Economics at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. I assist faculty members as a research assistant and teach various undergraduate courses at UNL. 
  • I was born and raised in Taiwan (Republic of China, R.O.C.). After spending one semester studying in local high school in Taiwan, I went to Seoul, Korea to continue my high school education. After graduating from high school in 2008, I came to the US and attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where I received Bachelor of Arts degrees in both Economics and Mathematics in 2012. I also attended the University of Houston and obtained a Master of Arts degree in Applied Economics in 2013 before coming to Nebraska. I spent the 2016-17 academic year at the University of Wisconsin-Madison as a visiting Ph.D. student in the Department of Economics. 
  • I am on the job market, and will be available for interviews at the 2018 ASSA Annual Meeting in Philadelphia. 
  • My current fields of interest include industrial organization, and public economics. I have a particular interest in the economics of the airline industry in the context of industrial organization and taxation. I also enjoy teaching courses at the undergraduate level, including principle micro/macro and statistics.
