Zach Tobey Gains Marketing Experience at Collaborative Industries

Senior marketing major Zach Tobey’s internship at Collaborative Industries in Lincoln, Nebraska, changed the way he views marketing. Through this experience, he discovered the importance of maximizing brand recognition among their customers through multiple marketing channels.

“I worked with a marketing team on ways to better promote non-profit organizations and maximize their company’s image through different means of promotion and advertising. This included social media, websites and newsletters,” Tobey said.

A Lincoln native, Tobey was involved with implementing changes to the websites and newsletters for different business programs in Nebraska, Iowa and Missouri that Collaborative Industries supports. He assisted in implementing and running a dozen social media accounts before turning them over to the clients.

The internship also included work with multiple areas of business, including finance, accounting, employee training and human resources. His business classes at CBA provided him with an understanding of these areas, so he could effectively serve their unique marketing needs.

“My business classes helped me work with multiple departments to first identify and then assist with their marketing needs. I learned how to communicate in a professional work environment and work with others in a positive way,” he said.

Tobey encourages other students to intern prior to graduation in order to get real-world experience.

“My internship opened up new paths for my future. It provided a way for me to gain knowledge about digital marketing, and was a meaningful experience for me and my future,” he said.
